A Dutchie and a Brit walk into a bar

The European Sales Agency began with an idea in Berlin. Two friends working in sales - a Brit and a Dutchman - noted how differently they communicated.

For the Brit, the proper way to answer “How are you today?” was “not too bad thanks.”

The Dutchman would ask why, what was wrong - and the Brit would explain that “not too bad” is simply the polite way of saying “good” in British English. It wouldn’t be proper to be seen as too happy, after all.

The friends decided to investigate how these differences affect communication in sales, conducting interviews with friends and colleagues from different cultures. After some time and a handful of informal training sessions based on the method they’d derived, the European Sales Agency was born.

Who We Are

Richard Williams

The Brit in Germany

Born and raised in south-east England, Richard moved to Munich, Germany in 2020 and fell in love with the culture and language.

Working at multiple businesses as a senior account executive, he noticed cultural differences played a role when he was selling to different countries, and developed a framework to adapt.

Jake Page

The American in America

Jake joined a European startup working remotely from the US in 2021, and found he needed to adapt to the European way of working.

With his wealth of experience as top performer in the US, he wants to help other companies avoid the same pitfalls he experienced dealing with European clients.
